An active member of a lay ministry, Carpenters for Christ, Bryan volunteers to help build church buildings each summer. As a spokesman for this group, and while speaking for broadcast groups and various athletic groups during his tenure as a sports announcer, Bryan developed his unique speaking style.

Bryan Townsend's ability to tailor presentations for a wide variety of groups comes from his diverse background. During his career he has worked as a: carpenter, electrician, radio DJ, commercial fisherman, real estate developer, salesman, manager, business owner, play-by-play sports announcer, newspaper columnist, news reporter, talk show host, professional speaker, writer and commentator.

A small-town guy who gets around, Bryan has spoken for hundreds of the nation's major corporations and most respected associations. He has spoken in over 500 cities from coast to coast and quite often is invited back to speak for groups a second and third time around.

Bryan has earned the designation Certified Speaking Professional from the National Speakers Association and has been honored him with the coveted CPAE designation as well as induction into the Speaker Hall of Fame.

Literally married to his childhood sweetheart, Bryan says, "I met her at church, in the nursery...our first date was to a sweetheart banquet when we were in the fourth grade...I do not remember not knowing her! " Quite often he refers to his wife by the childhood nickname, Judy Babe; a nickname she was given by a much loved family friend.

A career teacher, Judy Babe taught at the Alabama School for the Deaf while she and Bryan raised two sons and a daughter at their lake home in the mountains of northeast Alabama. A talented communicator herself, Judy Babe also speaks and has co-written many of Bryan's stories as well as much of his original humor.

Currently, Bryan is concentrating on his speaking and writing. He also continues to be involved in Carpenter's for Christ. To relax, he enjoys fishing and spending time with his family.

You will be glad to know Bryan is a down-to-earth guy. Meeting planners say he is easy to work with. He's accessible and eager to talk with you during the planning process. On site, he likes to arrive early and he does not get up tight about last minute changes you may have to make. Bryan says, "My job is to help you have a great meeting, whatever it takes."

  • Stand On It! : A Challenge to Take Off the Cruise Control - The Talladega Super Speedway is NASCAR's most competitive venue. At the start of each race, as the flagman waves the green flag to start the race, thousands of fans rise to their feet and cheer, "Stand On It!" -- that is, put your right foot on the floor, slap the pedal to the metal and give it everything you've got! It means, put your heart in it. In this world of people, we can accomplish only so much with our hands and heads. It's when we put our heart in our work that we excel, overcome challenge and become champions. Good people, in good times, can do good work on cruise control. But in these challenging times, what was good enough before is not good enough now. It's time to turn off the cruise control, put the pedal to the metal, and Stand On It! As our economy becomes more competitive, those who succeed in challenging times will be those who adapt with ingenuity, excel with individual efforts, and increase the odds for success with teamwork that is both efficient and effective.
