Baseball Hall of Fame member Jim Palmer is widely recognized as the greatest
pitcher in Baltimore Orioles history. During a career that spanned 19 years,
he won 268 games and was the Cy Young Award winner three times. He is the
youngest pitcher in history to pitch a World Series shutout and the only
pitcher to win World Series games in each of three decades. He was named to
the All-Star team six times and elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1990,
his first year of eligibility.
Since retiring from baseball in 1984, Jim has enjoyed a successful career as a
motivational speaker, television personality and sports broadcaster. For two
decades, he was the national symbol for Jockey underwear's marketing campaign
and is currently the national corporate spokesperson for The Money Store.
Palmer has also been active in charities and has raised over $1 million for the
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and served as their national sports chairman.
