Bill Chrystal is the nation's leading interpreter of Alexander Hamilton (1757-1804), the First Secretary of the Treasury and author of our financial system. Bill believes in bringing history and all of its lessons alive for audiences in a friendly, easy to digest, manner. As a Hamilton scholar, he dons a wig and tights to share knowledge and insights gained over decades of study and research. Audiences readily suspend disbelief and engage a Founder who died more than 200 years ago. Many have commented on Bill's expertise. "Magnificent!" is how General Samuel V. Wilson, former Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency and President Emeritus of Hampden-Sydney College, described Bill's Hamilton.

Bill is a retired clergyman. He has a B.A. and Master of Education from the University of Washington; a Master of Divinity and Doctor of Divinity from Eden Theological Seminary; and a M.A. in American History from Johns Hopkins. He is the author or editor of seven books including Hamilton by the Slice: Falling in Love with Our Most Influential Founding Father; and, he is the founding editor of the Alexander Hamilton Working Papers, an occasional publication devoted to new research and information about the man on the Ten Dollar Bill.

In February 2012, Bill was named the first National Alexander Hamilton Scholar by the Alexander Hamilton Awareness Society. For twelve years, he was the host of the nationally syndicated public radio program, The Thomas Jefferson Hour. He has appeared on Fox & Friends, C-SPAN, and The Neil Cavuto Show. He has performed for many audiences across the United States. In Hamilton's New York alone, Bill has been at the Museum of American Finance, Federal Hall, Fraunces Tavern, and the Hamilton Grange in Harlem. He was a guest of the governments of the Virgin Islands (St. Croix) and St. Kitts and Nevis-places where Hamilton was born and reached maturity. He has performed for the New Jersey and Kentucky Bar Associations, the Family Courts of Delaware and New Jersey, and the Federal District Court of Northern New Jersey. He has also appeared at many colleges and universities; performed for nonprofits such as Public Television stations, the Urban Libraries Council, the Newseum, and state-level political organizations. He is a yearly presenter for the Alexander Hamilton Scholars, a national organization that helps talented high school seniors, who are the first in their families to go to college, get into good schools and find scholarships.

  • General Process: Bill is introduced as and comes on stage costumed as Alexander Hamilton. The first part of each program is an unscripted monologue about the 18th century topic of your choice: Business, Democracy and Liberty, Diversity, Education, Ethics, Finance/Economy, Government, Healthcare, Leadership, Legal Practice, Marketing, Motivation, Success, Philanthropy, Politics, the forming of and ratification of the US Constitution and Bill of Rights, Winning the American Revolution, Slavery, the Use of Networking and Mastermind Groups, etc. Following his monologue, Hamilton interacts with your audience and answers any question they have for him. The question may be about his time or today. Every answer will be grounded in something Hamilton did, said or wrote. A third module is available, if desired. This is where Hamilton takes off his wig and becomes Bill Chrystal, the scholar behind Hamilton. In this section, Bill will expand on points that he wasn't able to make as Hamilton and will entertain audience questions addressed to him, the scholar.

Upon request, Bill will provide information to be included in your handouts-a Hamilton Timeline and a two to three page biography of Hamilton along with some Hamilton Quotations. If you are applying for continuing education credits, Bill will gladly work with you and supply you with pertinent information. Alexander Hamilton is great as a Keynote Speaker, an After Lunch or Dinner Speaker, a One to Three Hour Session Speaker, as Entertainment and/or as Edutainment.
